Hi, all, I have been asked to capture a screen image and email to a Seagate tech site. I have called up the page and pressed Print Screen key and nothing happens, I have also pressed Alt+Print Screen and nothing happens !!!. I have only done printscreen once before when running xp home and transferring the image to my Documents for attachment. I am now using W7-64 home, please tell me where I am going wrong. You will understand from this question that I am not a 'techie', so simplified answer please

Printscreen copies the picture into the clipboard, you then have to open a program (such as paint) and select paste to paste it into whatever you've used and save it from there.
You don't mention you tried to paste the captured image into your e-mail. Can I take it you tried that ?
Oh, and the windows snipping tool is probably a better option.

start > all programs > accessories > snipping tool

Thanks AB Editor, followed that and copied to my documents for attachment to email ,CF and Old Geezer, sorry to be thick but can work out how you would be able to paste in an email .
Question Author
sorry that can should be can't
You can't necessarily paste it direct into an email, it would depend on what you are using for your email and how it's setup as to if it would be possible to do that at all. (which is why I didn't suggest it)
Often shift insert will paste whatever is in the paste buffer into something, such as the e-mail. If that fails you may need to paste it into a different application first and save the file.
I normally right click on the required image and from the drop down menu select COPY.....This does what Print screen does.

Open the email you are sending and in the body of it right click and select PASTE...........

I am using Windows Live mail by the way.

There are other ways but for me this works best.

Thanks all for your suggestions,I'll keep trying them until I find one I can do with ease, and that my addled brain can remember, Thanks again for all your help
Save the image and attach it to the email.
You might have forgotten how to screen capture on Windows:) When you press the print screen button you have to open some picture editor like Paint.NET and press Ctrl + V
Then you are to save the picture in the format you prefer. I recommend Jpeg. Remember what folder you are saving it into.
If this it not working either then I suggest using a screen recorder like this one: http://freescreenrecorder.net/
When you are ready to send it you will have to attach the picture by browsing your files and choosing this image so that the uploading starts.
I hope you make it!
Good luck!
try with

fn + printscreen button. It should work.
