I am going mad.

I have a CD in my drive (audio) and I want to be able to send the 2 songs via email. In order to do this I am guessing I need to load them onto my computer first.

I have no idea how to do this, and AOL seem to not know either! I am using Windows Media Player.

Please help!!!

In Media player you should have an option to 'rip' a cd - put the cd into the drive and then select this - this is what you need to do in order to store it on your PC - while you are ripping it if you look at the bottom of the media player screen it will tell you where it is going to save the file to so you should be able to just add that file as an attachment to an email afterwards - however depending what ISP you use they may not let you send the attachment - the file will obviously be fairly big and may go over a limit on your or the recipients server and also the ISP may ban this type of email as sending songs I guess would be illegal as no licence had been paid for - I don't know if this is the case, just a thought. Hope this helps.

Thanks Sasha- but when I tried this I got this message--

Windows Media Player cannot rip tracks from the CD correctly because the CD drive settings in Device Manager do not match the CD drive settings in the Player.

It can't be a copyright issue as it is 2 tracks of mym own, recorded live! Any ideas?

Have you tried a different rip program?  I have used a free shareware program called FreeRip.  I am sure Google will come up with a source for it.

Heres also a very good (and free - no spyware either) programme. This is ideal for ripping tracks from CDs into MP3 format.

You could even try iTunes from the apple website.

You need to "Copy" the files over to your hard drive to start with.Click on Start button,My Computer,CD Drive D(or E or wherever the disk is).

Hold down Ctrl and left click your mouse on the items you want to copy(keep holding down ctrl key)

Then go to the LEFT pane and select "Copy the selected items" and copy them to "My Music"

Then you need to change the files to mp3 format .. use http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm  it should be quite straight-forward.

Now they are saved as mp3 files hold down Ctrl again and click on the mp3's ...Then right click on one of them and select "Send to...",and select "Compressed (zipped) folder" Now the tracks are just 1 handy file that you can email to your friend :)
