Talking yesterday to my FIL he was saying that by now downloading his favourite newspape onto his Kindle, instead of buying it daily has saved him over £20 per month. And a friend was shocked when I pointed out that her one cup of coffee a day from a coffee van outside work, at £2 worked out at £40 per month! So she now uses the kettle in the staffroom lol. If I stopped getting my shopping delivered from Tesco's and use the supermarket near me then I would save approx £250 per year.

Am sure there are loads more.

I used to work for a charity known as We are What we Do. Its principle was small actions, times lots of people, or over a long period of time makes a massive difference, if you have a look at there website I am sure you would be fascinated at some of the things you can do to save money, be more environmentally friendly, and to make someones day!
Not sure smowball that you'd be saving money. You'd be tempted to buy other things when you're in there. Also, the supermarket near you might be more expensive than Tesco.
When filling your kettle for a cuppa, measure using your cup the exact amount you need, then when poured, do the same for next time and the heat in the kettle will bring the cold water up to room temperature and it will boil quicker. Over a year that will save a tidy sum
I'm still on the same monthly budget for petrol. Now, I combine visits and stops and never just take the car to buy an item in next village (no shops in my village)
Celtic, I use a 1L thermos jug and make a pot of tea which lasts me all afternoon.

coccinelle - I meant on the delivery charges.
If we gave up smoking and drinking the amount we'd save is shocking.
Our biggest saving was made when we invested in a water filter jug and stopped buying bottled water. (If I needed to save even more of course i'd drink tap water but I like it filtered plus it prolongs the life of the kettle)

Our local shops carpark is 70 per hour, just walking there would only take 10 minutes instead of using the car.
It's walking back that the problem.

Yep, true.
"If I stopped getting my shopping delivered from Tesco's and use the supermarket near me then I would save approx £250 per year."

Now see, im the other way. I find doing my shopping online and getting it delivered stops me from browsing the aisles, saving me a fortune.
I vill only say zis wernce ...

... "To save money on shopping go to Aldi first" ...

then (if you absolutely have to have a particular item which they don't stock) make a surgical hit on tescomorriburys for as few things as possible.
i cant remember the last time i bought a newspaper,i read the news online..delivery for the family shop is a must though im afraid..it just saves time..
I have a newspaper only on a Saturday for the crossword and the week's TV. I could do that online I know but once a week I'm an old fashioned kind of girl.
Dave, I actually went to Aldi last week. I couldn't believe it. A bag of Maris Piper spuds for 89p. I usually pay £2.10 for Roosters. All the veg was dirt cheap and decent quality. So far the feedback on the frozen stuff has been really good as well. I got a whole weeks shop, plus lunches for half term, food for Ginge's pack up and two bottles of wine - £67

The only thing I didn't get was toiletries and cleaning stuff.
I do the W/E papers for the crosswords too, tthen big sis has them for doggie loo paper

We have a Lidl within 5 mins and an Aldi within 10. They are very good and infact I think I only use tesco's to get the clubcard points.May start using these two regularly.
If you use both sides of the toilet paper that'll halve that bill !
Lol OG, but yuck !!!!!
