I have just purchased an iMAC, when I switch on Excel always opens, which I don't want how can I stop this, I have been through all the preferences> Help.
Sounds to me as if this is a second hand machine, go to preferences, users accounts (or somesuch) and select login items, excel should be in there, hit the minus button at the bottom and select excel and that should stop it.
it is brand new, in the excitement one of the family has set something on and excel appears at start up. i have been through all preferences and cannot see anything that could remove excel from start up.
