I am now using IE to use this site as this morning on Google chrome I kept getting a message on the top bar about a Something flash not working and an option to stop 'plug in. It kept happening so I gave up. What do I need to do to stop it (or start it?) I.E. is not as responsive as Chrome, generally.

Thanks chuck I've done that. I was a bit confused about which one to go for on the install page. I didn't see a mcaffe untick box.
Oops Tilly....You should have un-ticked the box which was already ticked and said....Yes, install McAfee Security Scan Plus - optional.

If you already have a Virus Protection programme on your Computer, I think you will now need to get shot of McAfee, which could cause a conflict with what you have; and that could prove to be disastrous.

It won't conflict, it's not the full macafee suite, it's just a one off scanner, it's just not necessary that's all
Thanks chuck for correcting me.

Ron.

I didn't let it scan, so is that O.K.?
Check in add remove programs (or programs and features, depending on windows version) in the control panel, if the macafee thing is there uninstall it.

There's no bother having it installed, but as I said, it's not necessary.
