I disabled my add-ons a little while ago and now I cant enable them again. Or that's how it looks!
For instance the 'WOT' add-on says it is disabled but there it is, working as usual but Ad-block Plus says it is disabled and it is.
If I click enable, the page goes white and nothing happens. I click the white page and all the add-ons re-appear but still disabled.
I am using Firefox.
Everything's working fine other than that.
You should have to once reinstall the same addon on your browser and see what will happen. After installing it, it will ask you to restart the Firefox then click on the restart Firefox button then it will automatically closed and reopened again within installed addon.
Thanks for your answers but its still the same. I used Ad-block plus as an example but there are others.
vivandron, you seem to have found another problem (not the word I'm looking for) for me :). I tried to d/l ad-block plus but the installation bar barely starts and then...nothing. Same with the others.
JessicaEldridg, as you will see from the above, I cant get that far.
As I said, all seems to be working fine apart from this.
Hm, things may not be so bad. Although Ad-block Plus says 'disabled' and I could not re-install it, well there it is at the top of the page where it was before. The same with DoNotTrack.
Don't know how, but I'll crack on with the others and see what happens.
Hi again, I have 15 add-ons, and they all are marked as disabled. No it's not running slowly. It might take a minute to a minute and a half to 'open' but then it is fine.
It just seems strange that all of them say disabled but some of them are clearly enabled.
Ah well I'll give it time and see if the rest of them magically re-appear.
You certainly have a hell of a lot of add-ons. The absolute maximum I would say. It will be interesting to see what happens when you are updated to Firefox 15.:-
You certainly have a hell of a lot of add-ons.
True, and I'm no longer sure what all of them do!! :)
There again judging by the list, there not doing anything. Seriously, your right. I'll start deleting some of them, if it'll let me.
Thanks again.
Keep posting because, whilst I am far far from being any form of an expert on these matters, I am genuinely interested and only wish a few of AB's acknowledged Techies would say something.
Hi Ron. Agreed it would be nice if they stepped in every now and then. That said it doesn't seem to be much of a problem. It ran very slowly last night but is buzzing along now.
As an update, a few of the add-ons,well two actually, have re-enabled themselves!!
Re being updated to FF version 15. I have this machine set to automatically update but it hasn't happened. I've just checked and it says I have the latest version but my version is 13.0.1
Well apparently my system doesn't have the minimum system requirements to run this version. I'm running XP home SP3.
Guess I'll just have to stay with my version.
Sorry ILM... I am unable to comprehend what you are now saying.... "Well apparently my system doesn't have the minimum system requirements to run this version. I'm running XP home SP3."
I would have thought that, as FF15 has a minimum requirement of SP2 for Windows XP , you have more than the requirement with SP3.
Sorry I must learn to explain myself better.
I clicked on the link you gave and clicked download. I saw the minimum requirements but the message I gave you was the one that popped up.
Oh when I click on the 'Help' tab and then 'about FF, it tells me I am on the release update channel. Is that normal?
Quite normal to be on the release channel....It's from where up-dates originate.
Try the download and see what happens. The worst could be that it doesn't install FF15....but you'll still retain the edition of FF which you already have in your computer.
Have you ever thought of using Google Chrome because, whilst I prefer FF, the majority of AB's Techies I feel sure have opted for GC... to which all sorts of Add-ons are available, such as AdBlock, WOT etc.
Ok that link didn't work either. I went back to the first one and when it gave me the minimum requirements message there was another link that asked if I wanted to d/l anyway. I did and it has updated.
I'll see how it all goes now.
Cheers Ron.
