I'm trying to open a new email account on yahoo and keep getting this message everytime i click "Sign up for a new account" which i've never seen before

This is the message

"This is probably not the site you are looking for!
You attempted to reach edit.yahoo.com, but instead you actually reached a server identifying itself as *.edit.yahoo.com. This may be caused by a misconfiguration on the server or by something more serious. An attacker on your network could be trying to get you to visit a fake (and potentially harmful) version of edit.yahoo.com.
You should not proceed, especially if you have never seen this warning before for this site"

And this is what i see in the url bar

tx&.intl=uk&.done=http%3A%2F%2Fuk.yahoo.com%2
F"

Which has a red cross on the padlock and a red slash across the https.

I ran a full malwarebytes and mse scan a few days ago and no items were detected.

What could be the problem?

No you haven't got a virus, it looks like somebody at yahoo cocked up their wildcard certificate...

They've created the certificate for *.edit.yahoo.com when they should have either created it for edit.yahoo.com or *.yahoo.com.... the way they have done it the certificate isn't valid for the address they want it to work on...

Nothing you can do and nothing wrong your end, somebody at yahoo needs retraining in security certificates.
