Under the heading "Devices with removal storage" listed are Removable Disks E, F, G, & H. If i put a USB key in one of my computer ports with a view to transferring photos from computer to USB key which, if any, of the Disks, E, F, G or H should I use? Or is there another way.
Thanks

Do you have. card reader attached? These drive letters will be the card reader. The next usb storage device you attach will take the next letter in the alphabet that is free.
On my Laptop Drive E: is the Memory Card reader and Drive F: is the CD tray, so I guess that your USB key would appear under Drive G:

Do you not get an Autoplay box open on your desktop (When you insert your USB key) which should give options like "Open folder to view files" or "Speed up my system" That should tell you which drive you are using.

It is the easiest way of transferring your photos.
When you insert the storage device it will turn up often in the e drive. It will find its own place and you will see it there when you look in computer.
As Tuvok suggests, your existing E, F, G & H drives will almost certainly refer to card readers. Plugging in a USB pen drive might result in it being allocated to drive letter 'I' but, in my experience, it's far more likely that it will become 'E' (with the 'old' E becoming 'F', and so on).

Don't worry about it though. Simply plug in the pen drive and go to 'My Computer'. The new drive will either be 'E' or 'I'. Double-click on one of them to see what happens. If a window opens showing the contents of your pen drive (or nothing at all if it's empty), that's the drive you want. If you get an error message (telling you to insert removable media) you've got the wrong drive. Either way you can't damage any data.

Not true at all.

It depends on how many devices are in the computer like hard disks, CD drives, and if there is a card reader device for reading all sorts of different card readers.

Each computer is diffferent and it is not a good idea to tell somone it will be G when you have no idea.
