To speed up my computer when turning it on I have very few programs that automatically start on startup, but no matter how many times I disable real networks installer, real upgrade launcher and real networks schedular they always turn themselves back on when i turn on my pc, i have opened up real player but can't find anyway to disable it from the source.

any help would be gratefully appreciated

Go to Start > Run
Type 'msconfig'
Click OK
Click the Startup tab
Remove all ticks against any references to 'Real' software.
Click Apply
Click OK.
Restart your computer.
You'll see a message warning you that you've disabled some startup programs. Tick the 'Do not show this again' box.

Thanks Chris,
Just did it again following your instructions to the letter
rebooted my pc as instructed
Had the warning message, ticked the box to say don't show this message again.
checked my start up programs and real upgrade launcher had re-appeared!
although the other two (real networks installer and real networks scheduler ) remained unchecked im sure they will re-appear in due course!
i'm beginning to think that real player must have installed something within the program to keep adding this to my start up programs!
Think i might have to completely uninstall real player.
I've used Winpatrol for years. It gives you almost complete control over what starts up, including options for delayed start up. It also warns you if any site or software is trying to alter settings e.g. startup homepage etc. It's also free and quite small so doesn't use too much in the way of memory or space.

thanks chrisgel just googled it and will have a look although im still beginning to think the easiest solution would be just to uninstall real player.

A good way to tidy up your startup programs is to install and run CCleaner.

Program here:

(I've done exactly that earlier today!)
