Wife was messing about and the Google homepage has disappeared and Ask has installed itself How do I get it back to as it was ?? System restore??

go into your browser settings and change the default home page or search tool from ASK to gogle

you can uninstall it. control panel... uninstall a program. find it in the list and click on it to uninstall it.

If you have antivirus program, you may first run a scan with it. and then you try to stop related process by pressing Alt+Ctrl+Delete together. And then reset your browser by following the tips here: Google Chrome
1) Click on 'Customize and control' Google Chrome icon, select 'Settings';
2) Choose 'Basic Options'.
3) Change Google Chrome's homepage to google.com or any other and click the 'Manage search engines...' button;
4) Select 'Google' from the list and make it your default search engine;
5) Select 'Search Results' from the list remove it by clicking the "X" mark.
