Installing Chrome

Hi Folks

Trying to install Chrome and going bats. I get to the stage where it wants my telephone no to verify details and will not accept my number. What on earth am I doing wrong? Help required please

Sorry no idea but it certainly didn't want my phone number when I installed Chrome.

don't know where you are downloading it from but your phone number is irrelevant

Assuming that you mean Google's Chrome browser then:
(a) the ONLY place you should be downloading it from is here:
https://www.google.co.uk/intl/en_uk/chrome/browser/
and
(b) iy most definitely doesn't require a phone number!

Google DOES ask for your mobile phone number sometimes, for security reasons.

So the can send you a message or security code if you cant get into your email.

But you can skip it, there should be a skip option on that page.

I have certainly skipped this question in the past.

VHG I think you will find that's only if you register for a Google account which you certainly don't have to do if you just want Chrome as your browser.

I certainly didnt give a phone number!! Meadoway, I am now thinking that you have given your phone number to some company that will probably sell it to other advertising companies that will then hassle the life out of you!!
