What exactly is the Word software?I was send a document in Word and I could not open it.

Word is part of Microsoft Office that you have to pay for.

You can get a FREE Word viewer here that allows you to view Word document but not change it.

Oh,thank you VHG...I did have a thought that to do with Microsoft Office as that is what showed up on trying to open the doc.I received.

If you download the free Open Office software, it can display Word documents.
