Inundated With Spam Emails !

Is it only me, or is this happening to anyone else ?

These last 2 weeks, I am getting upwards of 50-70 spam emails a day !

My spam filter helps a lot but I always have a quick look through before deleting as sometimes a genuine email may slip in by mistake. its driving me steadily MAD !

Apart from changing my 22 year old email address, can anyone else suggest a solution please ?

Mark them as junk and any more emails from that address will go straight to your junk folder.

I've always got lots of spam emails, probably 100+ per day, I just delete them, it's no big deal.

I've just gone into my email folder this morning and there are 158 emails and only 2 genuine ones, the rest are spam.

It doesn't seem to work with Yahoo. If I get spam in my inbox then I report it but it keeps coming back. As for the Spam folder, no big deal. I have a quick peek and if nothing genuine has slipped through I can delete the lot in one go by three clicks of the mouse.

The difficulty with a spam or junk folder is that it is not perfect. Genuine mail does get put there, so you still have to go through them to sort them out.

I guess I shall just have to put up with it, but its a modern plague !

You don't have to put up with it.

Sadly, once an email address goes "public" (posted in a forum or whatever) then it will start to get spam emails.

Firstly, in this day and age having just one email address is not a good idea.

You need a number of different email addresses for different uses.

1) Have one email address JUST for family and close friends. Only give it to family and close friends, and NEVER use it for anything else. It will probably never get spam.

2) Have another email address for registering for official web sites (Tesco, Amazon, ebay, Currys or whatever). They will probably start sending you regular emails but you can look at them at your leisure as they are non important.

3) Have another email address for registering for forums and quizzes and so on, a sort of "throw away" address. If this starts to get spam then stop using it and create another.

4) If you do online banking have an email address JUST for that.

Creating new email is VERY easy with Google mail (gmail). It is free and you can have as many addresses as you like.

If one starts to get spam then just create a new one and stop using the old one.

I have about 10 email addresses that I use for different things.

What I want to know is....if they are sending me all these emails about how to make my *** bigger, how the heck do they know that I need some help in the trouser department ?

I am at a loss to appreciate that folk (especially methyl) has so much junk mail. I am a minor amongst 'Techies' in AB and am subjected to very little mail which I would consider as junk or spam etc. Perhaps someone can enlighten me..!! Is it a case of my being very careful of the sites which I visit ??

Hi ladybirder.....I have four e/mail addresses but in reality I only use one for communication with family and personal friends. The others are what I regard as throwaways if necessary. Must admit that Answerbank is on one of the 'throwaways' and this makes it very easy to clear all notifications of answers to threaded items.
