Paint And Paint.net

I'm trying to make a poster and I want the text to be in white. Although there's a good colour choice, they've deliberately made it hard to select a colour. Computer experts can choose whichever colour they wish, but everyone else has to use black

Does anyone know how to tap into their secrets so that I can select white? I've got both 'Paint' and 'Paint.net,' so I don't mind which one I use

I just opened paint and tried this

Create a background colour, select the text tool, select white from the palette at the bottom left, click on picture/background and type.

Do not create a "text box" first as this didn't work. Just place your cursor where you wish to have white text and type.

In paint.net there is a colour "wheel" that you can bring up to select the colour (sometimes the small colour wheel "window" opens up when you open up paint.net).

If the colour wheel is not on display then in the top right of the paint.net window are some small icons, and if you click on the small circle with various colours it brings up the colour wheel.

Within the colour wheel are two small squares. One is for the colour of borders the other for infill colour.

Select the text option, then set the colour you want within those two small boxes in the colour wheel.
