Printer Offline
I have an HP2540 wireless printer which has worked perfectly for 8 months. Today I couldn't print and my PC is telling me that it is offline. I switched the printer off completely and then plugged back in again and I am now being told the status is offline and the status is not connected.

Have you changed any router settings or turned the router off?
If you are using Windows go to the printer settings and see if there is an option to change it from offline to online (you may need to right click on the printer icon).
If all else fails you may need to reinstall the printer. You probably got a book and CD when you got the printer so read the documentation and follow the instructions for reinstalling the printer.
Or go to the HP support web site where the documentation will be available online.

If your printer is seen as 'offline' then the chances are that it's lost the wireless connection to your router.
Try turning everything off (printer, computer AND router), waiting a minute and then turning them all back on.
If that doesn't work, uninstall your printer using the tool which you can download from here:

Then reinstall it:

I have had this problem, check that the time on your printer corresponds to the time on your computer, my printer showed the time wrong on one occasion, I know not why it should but when I corrected the printer time, I found it then worked.
However another occasion I had to uninstall and reinstall as previous posts have suggested.

I had this issue with my HP 6520 printer and had to ring HP for assistance to get it to work again. After about an hour on the phone with them they suggested that it was a Windows problem and could I do a repair on the OS Which I did, then the next day I phoned them and they took over my computer and changed some things in the registry and got it to work again.
