Moved From A Pc To An Imac

Bought a iMac OSX Yosemite 1.4 GHz 8GB about a month ago and despite having an iPad and iPhone the beast sits on my desk untouched.
Don't have a clue where to start.
Took me about 20 minutes to work out how to switch it on.
I like the Dummies series but they seem to be about mountain lions.
Any suggestions as to a text book gratefully received.

I won a MacBook in a competition a couple of years back and I use it as a spare laptop. I never really understood what I was doing with it. One of my cats sleeps on it.
