This all happened when I was informed I needed to update my Adobe flash
I'm sending this message on my old pc not daring to crash my laptop which seems the only way to switch it off

task manager and close down Google, reopen and go straight to History and delete using tick the box and remove.....

Malware!!!
Download, install and run the free version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware to get rid of it (and quite probably the same malware that falsely told you that you needed to update Adobe Flash Player as well!):

Buen has given you one option, but beware malwarebytes may switch off defender.
You could first have a look in
Settings
Update and Security
Windows Defender
Then check that it is on. When on
Scroll down to open Defender
Do a quick scan. It take about 12 mins
After that. Select History
And select the all detected items icon and follow any instructions.

Thank you all for your help I'm now up and running and Togo (Windows Defender) was off I assumed it was turned off by McAfee that I use via Bt so went with Buenchico which did the trick but me fumbling about manage to alter my DNS settings but with Bt help I put that right
