I have a 16GB iPhone6 and I'm really frustrated because it keeps telling me that I don't have enough storage space to take any photos/videos. I currently have about 1100 songs on the phone and 20 apps. Should I be able to take pics/videos or have I really used up all of my memory?

A typical MP3 file might be around 4Mb, so your 1100 files might be taking up 4 or 5Gb.
Some apps can be pretty large too, so you might well have used up all of the available memory.

As Fitzer suggests, temporary files (particularly from streaming services) can take up a lot of space.
I've not got an iPhone (or, indeed, any type of smart phone) but I had a problem with disappearing memory on my PC. Even though I don't use Internet Explorer, I found that there was a massive 18GB of temporary files within its folders. (I'd used Windows Media Player to listen to lots of old time radio programmes, such as The Navy Lark, and all of the data had ended up in so-called 'temporary' files shared by Windows Media Player and Internet Explorer).
Perhaps you've got a similar problem with iOS? (My link, above, should help you to check).

Go to settings, general, storage, manage storage. Check if there is an app using a huge amount of space. If so delete the app and reload it. Quite often its a game that chomps through the memory storing all the different levels, and if you delete and reload, it starts again from where you left off. Happened to me.
