Stop Windows Up Date Assistant

How do I stop windows update assistant from installing itself and reactivating windows update automatically. When windows 10 tries to update it gets stuck in an update loop and takes an hour before it resolves back to the previous version so I just disable it in services. But windows update assistant turns it back on !

I would recommend trying to resolve the problem before trying to block Windows updates.
What is the error code?. Have tried running the Windows Update Troubleshooter.

If you tell Windows that your computer is using a metered data connection (even though it isn't) only 'critical' updates will be downloaded.

You cannot stop the updates on W10.

It's an absolute disgrace. The "updates" are effectively fault fixes necessary to rectify problems with an unfit product (sold under the guise of "security" upgrades). The only way you can stop them is to fill your hard disc up so that there is no room to install the updates. Mrs NJ has this feature on her very low capacity notebook. The Windows updater advises her to ditch stuff she wants in order to accommodate stuff she doesn't and will halt the process to enable you to do this. The trouble is it recurs once or twice a day but that's infinitely preferable to being lumbered with attempted updates that cause the problems you describe.

I use the the computer as does my wife and both have administrator privileges. I get loads of blue screens she doesn't. Chatted to Microsoft about this and they remotely reinstalled windows 10 (originally windows 7) since then it is bu%%ered, the operating system is corrupt and can just about use the computer if I disable e updates. Think I will just buy a new computer anyway and re set this one to windows 7.

If your wife has no problem but you do it may be that your user profile is corrupted it may be worth creating another user profile for yourself copying your current data to it and deleting the corrupt one

The corrupt O/S wont let me add or delete accounts - a while back the computer locked my wife's account ( password entered was correct) so I at the time set up a new one which works fine for her but sometimes on start up both her new and old accounts appear on the start page - sometimes one - as I said, the o/s is shot.
