Email problems

Every time I click on a link in a web page that is supposed to start up Outlook and open a new message, my computer starts up Outlook express - which I don't want to use. How can I stop it starting Outlook Express and get it to start opening Outlook. I have, in internet options, changed the default email programme to microsoft office outlook, but that hasn't worked... Anyone know how to fix this?

In Outlook...

On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click Other.
Under General, select the Make Outlook the default program for E-mail, Contacts, and Calendar check box.
