Don't like the new Windows 10 mail - still have Windows Live mail 2011 on the other computer but wish to transfer it to the new one. It was part of the windows essentials package which is not now supported.
Where is the program file located ? I assume it can be transfered but which file/s need to be copied.

Sorry, it doesn't work like that.
Most programs (other than 'portable' ones) need to be 'installed' on a computer, which involves changes to the registry. You can't just move the program file across from one computer to another. (If that wasn't the case, software piracy would be rife. For example, someone could pay £725 for the latest version of QuarkXPress and then give away unlimited copies, free of charge, to his friends).
So your suggested solution to your problem simply won't work.
Windows 10 Mail has been widely criticised as being too basic for many people's needs. Annoyingly for those people, Microsoft no longer offers Microsoft Essentials as a download. However there's always been a far better program available, so it seems the obvious choice to use:

PS: A bit of web searching suggests that it's possible to install Windows Live Mail 2012 onto Windows 10 without any problems.
Although the setup file is no longer available for download from Microsoft, it appears to still exist on Softpedia. (I trust Softpedia and the site scores well on sites which assess the safety of download portals but, as with all 'third party' sites, you use it at your own risk):
