Frustration With Deliveries

Just a rant - is anyone else like me spitting teeth over parcel deliveries not arriving when they say they will? I have had so much trouble with DPD this week the red mist is coming down - despite texts with time slots and driver's name nothing arrives, the most infuriating is the message the driver couldn't deliver because they didn't want to leave things unattended when you know you were in (and when I've set up preferences of what to do if I was out). It's really bad for my health, it makes me so angry.

have had that over the last couple of months, couriers Hermes not delivering when they said they would, saying i was out when i was in and waiting almost three weeks for one parcel. I won't be ordering any more for the foreseeable future.

No I'm guessing it's the time of year but what's the point of appearing so helpful with name of driver, texts and emails, time slots etc when they turn out to be meaningless - plus trying to speak to these companies on the phone is a gargantuan task.

With Amazon,I check where my parcel is and it’s says ‘handed to resident’ errrr, No it wasn’t , I found one such parcel down by my wheelie bin after seeing that message, side gate left open and Lola making her dash for freedom

I must be lucky I haven't had a problem for a long time. This week 5 packages delivered on time from different companies, Amazon, DPD x 2, Hermes and Parcel Post.

On line as become a waste of time, and as you say stressful. Nobody you ring if you have a problem takes responsibility, their skills are to fob you off with whatever they can ( lie) I never buy any longer on line,unless it is impossible to get else where, and I mean impossible. I will tell you this, and it worked wonders, the last time I did buy ( about 2 years ago) and had problems getting the goods I paid for, I sat on my computer and kept forwarding the same email to them of my complaint, I repeated this 35 times the first day, and 35 the next morning, this clogs up their system and hacks them off, IT WORKED!!

So far so good this year, only one present to come and a few bits for the flat from a disability aids supplier.

My son ordered something to be delivered here. It didn't arrive, and they actually signed for it. I don't sign my name with an X.

It came the next day, funnily enough they didn't ask me to sign!!

I've actually had all my orders delivered. None by Hermes though!!

All my deliveries have arrived within given time slot this year. Only exception was one order which disappeared into the ether. No problem though as paypal refunded the amount within a day of me informing them.

On tv this morning they say there's 35 thousand delivery drivers in the uk, most they say have to work on a self employment basis, working 7 days a week, and some earning as little as £4 per hour after expenses. Is it any wonder they don't care, would you?

Cakes ,that’s terrible,yes I do feel for them but a knock on the door would have helped in my case

Everyone who moans about deliveries should watch the film "Sorry we Missed You". It's a real eye opener about the conditions these delivery drivers work under. Since watching it I always make sure I am extra nice to the drivers (and they can use my downstairs loo if they need it)

Maggie I'm never unpleasant to drivers, it's not about them it's about the companies that manage them. So I'm supposed to not worry about my orders not turning up because I'm a rampant hand wringer? I think not.

The whole system is grossly inefficient with multiple vans repeatedly touring the same areas to drop off just a few parcels. I'm sure Cob/McD would see it as ripe for nationalisation!

Royal Mail actually let themselves into my house!!

Our local Royal Mail postie can be relied to let himself into the houses of the chair/bed-bound in the village and give them their mail along with a few minutes chat - it is much appreciated, Ummm. I've done quite well with Hermes so far. I don't buy much on line, but this Winter the P& R bus into Scarborough has been cancelled and it's awful (and more expensive) to get into town to shop. I'm not fuming - yet - but have had revised delivery days on a couple of orders, one of which has to arrive by next Friday latest so I can deliver it personally. Just beginning to gnaw fingernails a little.

Got a text to say our parcel had been delivered today. Not! Helpfully, the text included a photo of the parcel in our porch. Which we haven't got! Toured the immediate neighbourhood and recognised the house from the Christmas decorations outside. Result!
