What Positive Benefits Has The Lockdown Brought To You?
24 Answers
There are positives. It is NOT all stockpiling toilet paper, and dying on trollies in NHS mis managed hospitals whilst nurse angels tend to you, and mass burial pits in the streets just waiting for you, and HMG mismanaging everything like what you said, and just like you said at the start of all this and you just knew you would be proved right all along - the end of the world as we know it.
In the meantime I give a few positives here albeit limited to my narrow existence:
I have lots of time to do stuff I have been putting off for donkey's years eg careful ancestor research, studying items of interest more deeply, writing daily to all sorts of folk thereby keeping up and gossiping, cataloging DVDs and books, playing with controls on the PC to see just what they actually do do.
Watching films on various TV channels and platforms then re-watching if needs be because I did not get it first time round eg BLADERUNNER 2040.
As food and cleaning equip are limited self learning (because few shops near me and no deliveries) how to be careful and yet happy ie ditching all the waste I used to create and thinking about what to cook not just faffing around and reducing portion sizes (well I am too fat), for example washing powder can be swapped for careful doses of shampoo, or washing liquid when targetted on grubby areas. Using the eco wash because I am now here with it for the million hours it used to seem to take.
Wondering about my drug dealing neighbours so busy in the first week and now facing no fresh supplies and not leaving the flat every half hour.
Finding stuff I had lost or forgotten all about eg I found 2 brand new towels and my missing wooly winter hat because I can tidy that shelf up now.
Trying out new outfits and doing my own hair - well no one can see me!
The days fly by. Do any Answer Bank folk have any positives to relate? Just being nosy. Besides I aint going to work and I have oodles of time.

An odd experience last night, tho, was when I was out walking and my path suddenly coincided with a group of three (family members no doubt). This also coincided with a sudden coughing fit of the "frog in throat" variety. I was desperately trying not to and it's extremely dificult!

A couple of pluses to me.
1) Ive realised how many kind people there are who will help out when needed at the toughest of times. Basically confirming my belief that humans are, essentially, altruistic for the most part.
2) Been able to go about my 'white van man' job is a pleasure. No traffic jams and rushing from A to B, just a leisurely drive around the city :-)

Lots of pluses - saving £60 a week on school bus fare, reduced washing and ironing (no school uniforms to do), discovered kids like wholemeal pitta breads and 50/50 bread, boy #1 home where he is safe, cleaned the house in 1/4 of the time yesterday by getting the kids to help (there are negatives too, of course).
