Sometimes flash green, both of them in two separate rooms, is this ok?  One of them was very hot when I took it out of the wall, seems dangerous to me.  And do I need to somehow stop the flashing? If I turn it off, at the plug, I can't hear the doorbell at all, but worried about leaving it on as it gets so hot.   Especially when I am out, as I need to know if someone is at the door.  I am not technical at all,  thanks guys.

You don't need the chime whilst you are out, your phone will still get the notification

The flashing green light indicates the WiFi connection. If it's working don't worry about it. They do get hot.

My chime stopped working so now my Ring is connected to my echo devices which, in my view, works much better than the chimes.

Ironic that a doorbell called Ring doesn't.

It does ring

The visitor can hear it when he presses the bell

The visitor already knows there's someone at the door though.

That's how visiting works.

Thanks guys, sorry to be so paranoid ... x

I wasn't prepared to pay for a replacement chime - at the time they were around £50.  I get notifications on all my devices, my echo devices tell me 'there is someone at the door' if somebody walks on my drive and rings if they press the doorbell.

I'm impressed at how my Ring has improved since I had it - no false detections like I used to get if car headlights shone on the doorbell or the fox or badger took a stroll.

We have one with the chime and it doesn't get hot or even warm.  I find it weird though that when someone is at the door my wife's phone goes off straight away and mine is sometimes 15 minutes later before I get a notification.  Mine is the main one connected.

I don't have a doorbell. Knocking seems to work OK.😀

None of us would hear the door knocking.  ☹️

We still get people knocking the door but the ring thing still goes off as it has a motion detector.  Not the motion some on here would think it was though.  I know how some of your minds work lol.

It is quite useful for the visitor to hear the door bell is working. If I don't hear it I assume it's not working and knock on the door. Quite a few times the door has been opened and I've been greeted with "why are you so b****y impatient?"
