Can anyone help please? I want to cut and paste a long list of names from a web page onto a Word page. The problem is the list on the web page is in boxes which I dont want. When I cut and paste the names the boxes come too, how do I get the names without the boxes?

You can save it as 'text'

On your browser got to File, Save As, in Save Web Page Prompt select Save as type select Text File. You can then open text file in Word.

or even easier to cut or copy, then go into word, edit paste special and then paste as unformatted text. thats it
You can also (depending on the version of Word) use 'Paste Special...' and select 'Unformatted Text', or whatever best suits your needs.
Bear in mind some sites like the Answer bank is a b*tch to cut and paste and some site won't even allow you to highlight any text at all.
Beswad ...AB is a breeze to Copy and Paste...IF you are using the Firefox Browser...Problems start when using IE.........commoner

If you're copying a table, you can cut and paste onto your word page, then highlight the whole thing, go to 'table' choose 'convert' and 'convert table to text' - choose 'tabs' as the break option.

Thanks a lot to you all, I'm off to experiment now. Your help is most appreciated.

You can also open a HTML document in Word (right click then "Open with".

Or open Word and select "Insert" then "File" and change the format to HTML. Then open the HTML document.

I tend to copy the stuff and then paste into Notepad. This strips all formatting. You can then save it as a .txt file or just copy from notepad into whatever application you want it in. For this reason, I always have a shortcut to Notepad on my Taskbar.
