I'm thinking about getting a laptop for my bedroom to put my own music/photos and surf the net.
We currently have BT broadband on our main home computer. What devices to i need to use this broadband connection? Is it just the BT wirless hub or do i need to pay a subscription or purchase some kind of device for the laptop? I want to do it wirelessly as i dont have a phone line in my room. Many thanks.

If it is a fairly new laptop you may have wireless capability built in. Check the documentation that came with the laptop.

If not you will need to buy a wi-fi PCMCIA card, like a small credit card. Something like this

You say wireless HUB in your question, you actually need a wireless ROUTER.

A HUB is not the same as a ROUTER.
If you have windows XP go into the help and type Home Network or Home Networking.

There are some good tutorials in the Windows XP help.
vehelpfulguy: I think they mean the much-publicised "BT home hub", though as you say it's a router.

dolly bird: you'll need a wireless router+modem, like this:

Since you haven't yet got a laptop, make sure it has wifi with it (most do now).
