On the Windows XP (home) welcome screen (where you can choose which account to login to) in the bottom left-hand corner it says "Turn off sytem." Shouldn't this be "system"? Is this a genuine error or should I worry?

In my start menu it appears as "Turn off computer." We have virus protection software active and updating all the time.

Looks like you have a copy WindowsXP. You can verify by logging on to Windows Defender. They always check to see if XP is genuine before you are allowed to download. Have you got the Authenticity Key?
