PC Security

My PC came with a free trial of Norton Security. I have tried to uninstall it to run AVG which it is not compatable with but it won't uninstall even though it has expired. How do I get it off my PC?
I have some security by ticking a box on Norton which reminds me to renew every 15 days.

sorry should have told you to make sure you have "avg" or whatever other antivrus DOWNLOADED ready to install BEFORE you uninstall norton ok

After uninstalling it do a search for Norton folders, something like My Computer, C: drive, Program files. Delete what you find. Go to START then RUN and type in REGEDIT hit OK. Click on EDIT then FIND. Enter Norton and delete every entry you find, can take a while. This works for me every time I am asked to get rid of *&^%$ NORTON!!
