Reappearing file on the desktop

I ripped a cd to the hard drive, and then converted it to mp3. I created a new file for the converted files to go into on the desktop. Everything was fine (I have done this many times before and after), and when I had finished transfering the files to my mp3 player, I deleted the file. This file keeps reappearing on the desktop, I've shredded the file, deleted the file, and if I rename the file, a copy of the reappearing file appears stright away. Anybody know how I can get rid of this file once and for all? just to add the file is empty. Many thanks in advance.
