how do i tell if my pc is set up for wireless broadband?

Control Panel > Network Connections (in XP)
You will see a list of installed network adapters, if one of them is a wireless device, shows icon as a sort of antenna with curves either side.. then you have a wireless adapter and should be able to use a WiFi signal.
As a general rule, most PC's (Desktop PC's) don't come Wireless enabled as standard you will need to add a wireless card or adapter.
