photograph must be in bitmap(bmp) format--go to --start/programs(all programs in xp)/accessories/paint--when paint opens choose--file/open and navigate to ur picture and open it--then choose--image/attributes--set units to pixels--width to 800 and height to 600--click ok--if it is not already in bitmap format go to file/save as and save as type bitmap--u can give it the same name and location--once u have saved it go to file menu and choose set as background--either tiled or centred--tis done
Almost but not quite.....The probs with this method are that a lots of pictures will be smaller than that pixel size so the reduction won't take effect..the ratio is correct thought so try 400x300.....next thing is that this crops the picture to the top left some other smart cookie will tell us the way round that (it's too late 02:45 for my addled brain now) and lastly is doesn't have to be a bitmap file....a jpg will work just as well as I just tried it to see and it worked alright.
thanks sft--points taken--its a looooooooooooong time since i have done this--not since w95 i think--would only accept bmp files at that time i am sure
You can double click the photo file (eg picture.jpg) to open up a suitable viewer, right click the picture and "Set as background".
