just bought a lap top from pc world and when i got it home there is a small white dot on the screen i think a pixel dot or something what should i do

Sounds like a dead pixel. The number of dead ones you're required to have before the manufacturer will replace it varies with manufacturer, but since it's brand new PC World should just take it back. Get a replacement.
Consumer flat panel displays must conform to Class 2 requirements of ISO13406-2. This allows for 1 dead (or bright) sub-pixel per million sub-pixels.
