frozen up ????

Hi Can any one explain when I booted up this morning all I got on my screen was some sort of patterned background with a large multi coulored with small squares on top then my name in small administrator window with vacant pass word I didn't put my pass in just clicked OK then got request to select a colour when I clicked ? nothing happened so because there were no tool bars to help me I pressed and held down PC on /emergency exit button after a few moments I rebooted and every thing came on normal any info to explain Thanks Tez

dont worry about it, sounds like it has booted incorrectly defragging the pc might help if it is an old installation or even the xp files are a bit corrupted in which case youll have to repair the installation via an xp disk

Hi macspeedy thanks for that I thought at the time i had a virus there was no means of turning it off just would not budge however if there is a next time i am a little wiser now thanks again Tez
