Spellchecker on AB

I have two PC's at home on which I write my AB posts. On one of the machines, if I misspell a word, it's underlined in red. Right clicking on the word brings up the correct spelling of the word, "add to dictionary", "undo", "select all", "spell check this field" and "languages", which is much the same as in MS Word.

On the other PC, misspelled words are not underlined.

Both PC's have MS Word installed on them, so I can't understand why the difference. Can anyone shed any light on this please?

Probably different software versions, do a office update online!

I presume that you are using Firefox 2 with its inbuilt spell checker as your browser on at least one of the PCs. The other is either not Firefox 2 or has its spell checker turned off (Tools → Options... → Advanced → General → Browsing → Check my spelling as I type).

Yes you're right kempie. I am using Firefox 2.0.0.4.

The problem is that I've just checked and the same version is installed on both PC's. I went to "check my spelling as I type" and discovered that the boxes are ticked on both computers.

Any other suggestions?

Using the faulty Firefox, right-click inside the AB question/answer text box and make sure that "Spell check this field" has been ticked.

This is weird kempie.

On the faulty Firefox, I have Undo, Select All and Add Dictionaries. There is no Spell check this field in the list.

The option is listed on the working Firefox PC and obviously, it's ticked.

It looks like a dictionary is not installed.

Either use "Add dictionaries" or use this link to download the English (British) dictionary... or whichever languages you wish.

Note: the dictionary named "English" is US English. Scroll down the page for English (British).
