PPs and Spellcheckers
Every time I receive a Power Point picture/slideshow, I have to save the attachment and open it from it's new location - 'My Documents', despite the symbols being in 'Folder Options' in 'Control Panel'.
My other problem is that I cannot access a spellchecker in my e-mail; there's one in my wordprocessor. I even tried a different wordprocessor, to no avail...help!!

that just shows which proggy opens *.ppt files by default (file asociation).
try this from the beginning ....
when you get an e-mail ... you either save or open the attachment - if you save ... by the sound of it your default is My Documents ... but you should be able to save it elsewhere.
you don't say which e-mail reader
in outlook with the message you are working on open ...
tools | spelling and grammar (or f7)
to set spellckeck default action ...
tools | options | spelling - tick the boxes that look good
btw
for outlook, word and powerpoint f7 starts spellchecker (get the idea?)
oh and help is always f1! ;-)

Thanks ACtheTROLL, but I think that you've missed the point of my question.
I know how to open a PP file, but it isn't opening from the message. So, I have to save the file, and does will work from the new location. I mentioned the symbols, because if they aren't there the PPs won't open, anyway.
With regard to ther Spellchecker, that isn't working as it should do, either.
I'm fully aware of the correct procedures, in both cases, which is why I can't understand why neither works.

you are still keeping the most important points secret
which os & (sp version-mail reader - office version), -?
I thought that was the point - you might be fully aware ... but we aint
outlook I'd guess ... but so many are popular now
just like browsers.....
the symbols are a distraction - you said it opens when saved ...
If we are talking office
the association isn't being passed through the os to the application
so the registry entries is probably damaged
but it could be your virus checker or a hotfix
blocking the attachment
(oe has some funny ideas about attachments these days)
can you open other types of attachments directly - zip txt etc?
the spell checker makes it sound as if your office install is damaged - try fixing ... or un/re-installing.

Sorry...I have OS-XP Pro and Word 97 installed and use OE for my e-mail.
I only mentioned the symbols to eliminate the possibility that there wasn't an associated programme to open the PPs.
I have no trouble opening other files, from within e-mail messages, and no problems opening any files anywhere else. So, Although I can save files to anywhere else, PPs are not still opening in the e-mail message.
As I said previously, I tried other word processors and still had no spellchecker. This is the third time that Word has been installed.
