E. mailing the U.S.A.

Hello, can someone please help/advice me, i just know the very basics about my computer, i have an E. mail address for my friends who live in the u.s.a. will i just put this address in as normal just how i would when i E. mail friends in the UK, or is there something ells that i should be typing.
Also could someone tell me, how long do you think it would take, for an E. mail to reach the U.S. my computer is a new one, so i do get things up on the screen quick.

pretty much instant, usually. Just put the address in as normal - [email protected] or whatever it is - and press send when you're finished. The address will be unique worldwide

As stated above, addresses don't depend on your country.

Also, the speed of your computer doesn't decide how fast the email gets there. Once you press send it goes to the email system that you use, and from then on it's in someone else's hands. Since everything is electronic (or travels across the Atlantic using fibre optics), it takes seconds. The only delay would be some issue with the computers doing the work, but this is very unlikely.
