I've never been on My Space or other sights like it. I thought they were really for teens/early 20's to chat/hook up. ( I am aware of all the pedophiles too.) I was surprised to learn that a number of teachers and staff I work with have pages. I would never open that door because of my students using it too. Why ask for trouble? Do many "grown ups" have My Space pages, and if so for what purpose? Or am I just not techno savy enough to see the benefits???
is myspace not the 'grown-up' version of bebo etc....? my 14 yr old daughter has a bebo (of which i would defi not do a bebo being 35-but would prob do a myspace) that said - only if it was a 'grown-up-abit' place to do it??....(no good asking as teenager cause all they say is -"ah why are you looking at that stuff anyway)... excuse me.... i'm hardly over the hill....!!!
I have a Myspace so that my friends in America can easily see my latest pictures and blogs. I have it set to Private though so only my real friends can access it.
A friend of mine has a Facebook page and made a flippant comment on there about being hungover and unfit for work, whilst at work. Unfortunatley his boss found out and wasn't very happy.
I think you have to be careful about what you really want out there for the public to see.
I'm 39 and I've got a facebook thing and it's just a bit of fun! You can choose how private it all is, and keep personal stuff off, or to a minimum if you want. There's an 'AnswerBank Appreciation' group on there - easy to find and join...?!
