can I clear ram memory any other way than rebooting?

re-booting doesn't clear it, it simply clears the open file tables, processes etc. All RAM addresses contain the last previously-inserted value into them, until they are written to again. Explain why you would want to clear RAM - your question is a little ambiguous....

Considering you seem to know about the techy side of Random Access Memory, darth vader, I don't understand why you think the question is ambiguous.

I remember when I used programs like these there was an abundance of applications out there to do the same job. However, now I see no reason to use them. If RAM gets too low then your Operating System should manage it for you. But if there are so many of these Apps out there, then there's got to be a reason. Have fun!

i meant i couldn't understand why happyrhodes wants to clear RAM down that's all, you know, as in "explain why you want to clear RAM" (oh i said that already didn't i!)

btw both links are to memory optimizers, they don't actually clear memory contents. or is happyrhodes asking for memory managers rather than memory content cleaners? oh look - there's the ambiguity

Okay I see your point, but because of the situation I just assumed that's what he wanted.

I really doubt he wants to erase (write over the bits with random 1's and 0's) the contents of his RAM, that would be pointless.
