Unable to retrieve emails

For the whole of today I have been unable to access my emails with mail.com. Although I can get the site http://www.mail.com OK, I cannot then get into my box. For first six hours just got "site unavailable" which made me think it may be me at fault, then for last six hours get "site under maintenance - try later". It seems strange for such a large organisation to be off all day has anyone else experienced anything similar for any email site?
