Lost messages

I transferred all my Outlook Express inbox messages to a folder on my desktop (supposedly to save space) and now I can't access the messages. There are 77 of them and they are now all in ONE .dbx file, of 50-odd mb. and I can't access any of them. What can I do? Thanks for all help. Liz
