only printing in black

my printer has a coloured ink cartridge and a black one but its only printing in black, ive changed the colour cartridge but its the same, anyone any ideas please many thanks

you're not configured for b&w are you?
(look in printer properties)

dont think so as i always use colour, how do i get to printer properties?

Go to control panel,click on printers and faxes,right click on the printer you have problems with(may be you only will have one installed)Click on properties .The next step will vary a little depending on you model,but there will be something like printing preferences,click on this and uncheck black if it is ticked,and put the tick in colour.
