I cant connect my laptop to a Netgear 834 wireless router. My main computer is connected via ethernet cable and the router recognises the settings from the laptop but all attempts to connect fail.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

generally windows will do the job for you.

control panel | network connections | select the wireless adapter
right click | view available networks.

then select the network .... answer the questions (generally asks for the key (this is either on a sticker on the router .... or access the router from your wire PC and note it from there

simple ;-)

Not so simple!

I have checked and double checked all the settings, encryption etc but it won't connect unless I set the router as an open network, which is not an option.
Hi bird of prey.

This has happend to me.
As your laptop connects without encryption/security it has to be a setting. My problem was with WEP settings. I tried to use more advanced security but WEP was all my medion laptop could handle. Check your Netgear manual and try again.

Regards.
