Switching off my computer.

When I switch off my computer (windows XP) it does not switch off, I then have to go through the switching off procedure once again and it then switches off normally.

Could anyone please tell me why this is? it has only happened recently.

I have had some similar trouble lately but after running the clean up disk programme it appears to have solved it for the moment.
