there are a lot of dvd rippers available on the net, such as dvd43, are these legal and if so does anyone have any experience of them? cheers

it is perfectly legal to rip a dvd to your computer for your own personal use. if you start either making copies or make it available for download in any way you are then breaking the law.

I personally use magic DVD ripper, but you have to pay for that, I've heard good things about DVDshrink for a free ripper

it is perfectly legal to rip a dvd that you own.....
Dvdshrink is very easy to use and there are lots of tutorials showing how to use it. If used in conjunction with Nero it is a smooth process.

DVD Decrypter is also a useful tool

dvd shrink 3.2 is very good, in combination with anydvd it will back up most of your collection.

cheers, do you have a reliable link for dvd shrink? seems to be a mix of sites with some wanting to charge even though its a freeware from what i can tell.

I personally use DVDFab and haven't come across any DVD that it won't back up....
