I've got headings in row 1 and would like to make them visible no matter how far down the excel sheet I scroll down. Can anyone help?

Nice, one! Thanks mxyzptlk
There is also a little slider at the top of the vertical scroll bar. This will split the view allowing you to display any rows you choose in either view. Useful when you want to keep the header visible or when comparing rows that are separated.

There is also one at the tight hand end of the horizontal scroll bar.

These features are in Excel 2007 but I think they were also in 2003.
