Just had my computer cleaned and reinstalled after having a big virus, but I am now back on IE and I do not like it. How easy is it for me to change to Firefox, and also to keep all the progs and photos etc, so I don't have to reload AB for example. Thank you.

Firefox is only a browser and won't affect your other programs, photos, files and so on.

Easy to use straight from download, and very customisable to exactly how you want it.

Won't all my bookmarks be in Firefox anyway as that's what I have been using, honestly all this importing to file terrifies me!

That depends on whether your profile is still on the hard drive - if it's been wiped it will be lost.

Download it and see what happens

....and what about desktop icons? will they still be there as I can't possibly create all these as new? Oh dear the problems of getting old!!

Ethel please , could you tell me if it's possible to download Firefox and try it but keep IE and go back to that if I don't get on with it ? I too am a bit terrified of losing things and I do loke to use Hotmail . x

Desktop icons are nothing to do with Firefox.

Have you had your pc restored to factory settings - as it was when you first bought it?

BigMama - it is ill advised and practically impossible to remove IE from your hard drive.

Download Firefox but leave IE alone. Just as you can have a selection of photo editing software, you can have as many browsers as you like on your hard drive.

Thank you Ethel , it's just that I'm having my lappy shut down IE too often and I've heard good reports of Firefox :-)

There are still some sites that don't work properly in Firefox, but you can download this little addon:

Just right click on the page, and click 'open with IE tab' and it will be fine.

Ethel, I've downloaded and installed Mozilla firefox and restarted the computer, but all the desktop icons are still IE, last time they were all firefox, err what can I do??
