I think it would be either the dual core Athlon 6400+ at 3.2Ghz and for quad core I think it would be the Phenom 9600 2.3Ghz

But I've only checked quickly... Double check before buying anything.

Also if your going to pay out for a new CPU you'd probably be better of getting a newer/better motherboard at the same time, but then you'd also probably need new ram, and a new hard drive, and have to reinstall windows.....

Just get a new computer :)
having a large cpu doesnt make up for smaller things. unfortunately for chucky

^ awww bless him.... I have a stalker.
if I was stalking you I would be out side your house with a pair of binoculars looking down at your dangly bits, shaking your head and saying 'that noob is right'
lmao i meant to say watching you looking down at your dangly bits. not me lol. i think the magnification on the binoculars would be too weak anyway
oh I was incorrect then, I bow down to your obvious and well documented superior knowledge about stalking.
i wasnt generalising I was telling you what I would personally do. stoooopid
Chuck's troll trouble notwithstanding, apparently no AM2+ CPUs are compatible with the most recent BIOS for this MSI mobo, therefore Phenoms are not supported.

Here is the BIOS version 3.7 compatibilty list...
