hi my daughter has gone to australia for a year and someone mentioned to download skype to keep in touch with her but dont know much about it or understand what its about, i use facebook to write to her so what is this skype and do you pay for it ?

Skype is free if the other person also has it - you can talk to your daughter for nothing for as long as you like and use a webcam too, if you want to.

I endorse the above. My son went to Hungary for Christmas and we spoke to him and viewed him every day. My daughter is going to Oz later this year and we will use Skype then as well.
Easy to set up and easy to use (once you have done it once that is).
