computer redirecting

when i type something into Google, for example, Facebook, it takes me to the list of Facebook items it has found as normal but then when i click onto one of these items i am then redirected to all sorts of different things that appear to be different search engines, for example K-directory or ask.com. why is this happening? it is happening on everything i try to look up and it is very annoying!! my aplologies if this is something very simple but i am a bit of a technophobe im afraid!! thanks in advance.

First of all, follow this guide:

If still infected, then use MalwareBytes antimalware or ComboFix to remove google redirect virus.
