incredibly slowly...it didnt use to and I dont know why.I have defragmented and even system restored but the end result has shown no noticible improvement. have AVG which informed me the new AVG 9.0 version was available for download. This installation took 3hours 26mins on my PC..This cannot be right. The previous AVG downlod took about fifteen minutes, something is malfunctioning within my computer. On the other hand maybe I simply don't know the correct keys to press
I don't know what to ......can you help me please????

No expert by any means, but I often find a system restore to an earlier point sometimes helps things like that.
with all the updates regularly downloaded you probably are needing more memory, everytime you download a windows update it takes memory.

Thanks cazz at the moment I have 3gb memory is that enough ?
When you say it's running slowly, is the hard disk being hammered continually?

Or does the task manager show that a particular process is taking a lot of CPU time?

Or is it that the download speed (i.e. when the new version of AVG is being downloaded from the network) is very slow?
okay sounds fairly decent, then the only things I would check is that you have a decent amount of space free on your C drive (less than 50% of your drive free space is good)
second check would be to check that your memory has not failed (check by right clicking my computer/properties)

you may have downloaded a malicious program that is slowing up your computer, very easily done as well, worth running your anti-virus.

maybe you have a lot of programs running in the backround on auto?
ahh yes,good point jumbuck!
